I would like to use log base 2 on both equations:
Log2(a)*(b^3+b)=5/16
Log2(a)*b=1/4
We can observe that a=1 and b=0 are not solutions and divide equations:
b^2+1=5/4
b=+-1/2
If b=1/2 then log2(a)=1/2 so a=√2
If b=-1/2 then a=1/√2
