In this video I answer the question. Is Ableton Move worth the hype and more importantly the $450.00 price tag. I also add my own commentary to the Ableton tutorial and cover the features that come with this Ableton standalone device.

Purpose: Some may considering the Move and want feedback and thoughts from other producers and musicians in the community.

⚠DISCLAIMER: As a long time Ableton DAW and Note user, this is not an attempt to bash Ableton Move users and supporters. Whatever sparks your creativity...GO FOR IT!!!! This is more about opening the conversation and sharing, there is no right or wrong. Once I wrap my head around this device I will most likely upload an official response to this video. As a lifelong MPC user. There is no comparison to the KO bruh. This is WAY more advanced then the ko. The ko dont even have a screen. You hating brother.
The move is super dope! DO NOT GET IT TWISTED! This guy said flimsy. 😂😂😂😂

I think "Capture" is a killer feature here. It makes it a looper and a step-sequencer all in one. I don't see other devices in the same price range with similar capabilities. Yeah KO-2 is a great sketch pad, but it's really hard to transfer beats anywhere. Move transfers midi to Ableton which is waaay more convenient compared to audio tracks.
What device you'd rather pick in 450usd price range? I see only SP404 Mk2 (I have one) in this range, and it can't beat Move in terms of a workflow in my opinion.

I’ve got Elektron gear and mpc live 2 and I can tell you this machines has the best workflow out there it gets you in the flow state and the build quality is premium.

You are kind of right. For that money you could buy brand new iPad and use ableton note and a ton of other stuff.

I own ESX1, Circuit. And controller Akai APC Key 25 and Maschine Studio.
This one for me it's like Circuit but you have and option to export projects to Ableton to do more stuff.

I’m with you on Note. The sampler on that is fun, and flows. Not a lot of steps. No shift button needed. I’ll spare my wallet and use the 450 for groceries, petrol, and a nice dinner.

I love using Ableton Live but I noodle with my circuit tracks or GStomper on the sofa and love it - but the synths are only passable and it is hard to get an idea into Ableton Live. (only managed it twice! normally have to recreate in Live). This looks like the perfect replacement for noodles and the magically appear in Live via the cloud. I have wanted something like this for years. Shame it doesn't have chaining like the Circuit, but that would fall to Live when I have generated my grooves. I really don't think you understand what Move is but there are a lot of Live users that would get some joy from being able to noodle with Wavetable, Drift and Drum Sampler.

There was a question: why I should use Move when I can use Note I am not going to chime on all the other arguments and details. I just wanted to say sometimes pads, buttons and knobs are the only argument one needs. For example for me hardware unit always beats touch screen workflow. I know, you can use midi controller for pads, maybe you even could map some controlls to some knobs but still, you have to do this. For me the immediate workflow of something handson, ready to play out of the box, always will be more inspiring. Leaving other features out of this discussion would it be worth the price only for hardware? I do not know. But other features, fortunately, are there. And, like I said, my comment is not an other argument in the discussion about this particular video. I just wanted to share a thought that there are people who always will prefer handson device, even if it means buying a controller only for moving knobs and sliders in your DAW. I am one of those people for sure, I just think faster in such circumstances. :)

you don't learn it with the first device, but at some point you realize that it's not just about possibilities with the device, but also about inspiration and quick implementation of ideas

The Core Library in Move is the same library as Note

Note/Move drum racks, as well as Drift presets, can be converted and exported from Live.

Many apps already support Ableton Link and exported as a Live set. Many more will begin to adopt the Abl. format for Note/Move.

Sure it’s only 4 tracks, but once you understand that it’s really 64 tracks (4x16) of 4 minute stereo samples, with 16 levels in a box, you’re limitless.

Project constraints really liberate the producer to really think about how they are crafting a track.

As for me my brother, I'm definitely having fun with it lol. The Roland P-6 is a little beast, but waaaay more tough to learn than the Move, and the build quality is definitely not a toy. Now.. the anxiety I felt along with a bunch of cats when the EP-133 KO2 came out with how fragile it is, and fader gate, and the Lego knobs, that's toy activity 😂but I still love it. If you take your SP-404MK2 outside or somewhere, you gotta make sure your AA batteries are fresh, and you Might have 2hrs, maybe.. and it's $50 more, BUT.. I love my SP as well. I'm team Android, and never knew about the Note, and truth be told, it takes me no time to cook something up, just as fast if not faster then when I'm on the KO2 or SP-404MK2. Honestly I've been having fun and cooking everyday since I got it, and right now the smaller samplers are the wave, and this is just Abelton's entry🤷🏾‍♂️🙏🏾✊🏾💚

Comparing it to using ableton note is absolutely hilarious too 🤣

This thing is fun and not as confusing as the Roland p6 which is confusing as hell.

Also if you are an Ableton live user this helps in the workflow. Everyone has there opinion. It’s a scratch pad! Plus they will add more features in firmware.

Another clickbait video, how original

It's quite simple why they did this. Note is ok but it's your phone and you would want to sometimes get away from your phone. Added physicality of the keys do also help.

LOL I know nothing about it and have opinion that KO and SP-404 are better 😂
I would suggest you to get it and learn and you will know WHY! 🎉 Addictive and dope you’ll see.
Made me smile. Cheers, bro!

Simply put... 4 tracks was only good for Volca Sample back in 2015. No proper midi out... well, yup, it was Volca problem. So i call this Ableton Volca.
