Being alone means we have total freedom and control over our own life.

I’m 64 and will never be involved with anyone again. I value my peace.

I’ve been on my own since I was 52 . 14 years later I’m still alone. With my two terriers. Absolutely love it ! Nothing to prove no allowances to be made. Fantastic

At 82 I am finally getting to practice my classical guitar uninterrupted for several hours every day. I am really enjoying it and so lucky my fingers still move just fine.

@1:40: “But as men age the tolerance for unnecessary arguments and drama often diminishes.” 👍🏼 No need for any other explanation.

I have my dog. He is pretty much my constant companion, and the only one I want. When he passes though, it’s going to be tough.

If an older man speaks in the forest,
and there's no woman there to hear him,
is he still wrong?

It's the exact same for women. I'm 70 but have lived the majority of my life just like this. Freedom is key, saying no, no drama, small group of quality friends, loving solitude, complete control over my life. It doesn't get better than that!

Made my living as a commercial artist and looked forward to creating art just for myself. Music was also a big part of my life. At 71, I can't play my guitar or get out my drawing pad without resentment from my life partner. I am at her beck and call every minute. I am contemplating a move to solitude.I don't want my last ride to be a never ending list of home improvement projects. I give her my every working hour and it's still not enough. Cheers to you guys who have managed to escape the drama.

I tired of putting energy into "friendships" but receiving little - if anything - in return. I started to feel much better once I just stopped caring and just let go of these people.

I've been alone my entire life. I do not feel that I've missed out on anything. However, people think there's something wrong with me that I'm alone. I'm a peace ✌️

Thanks for affirming and elucidating my choice to live alone at 82 - after a very busy academic life, and having had a dear partner for 38 years, who passed away in 2008, my present way of being has become enriching, fulfilling and meaningful. I have no qualms about telling people that I don't want frequent visitors. Spontaneous chats to friends, or strangers on visits to the shops are enough, and often uplifting. Give me my home alone!

Peace, quiet, good health, and financial security at my age? It’s heaven on Earth. My dogs are an added bonus.

It's simple - the lash of testosterone drops to the point where we are no longer driven to put up with it all. Peace, silence and the final release of that tension we have held for decades is quite wonderful.
