Today's Hymn is "Jesus Calls Us".
As I was looking up this hymn to record for the start of this week, I had to look up my Song Requests document to see if a friend had requested it - which was the case. I have quite a few songs on request and not sure that I'll get to many of them, so it was kind of a nice surprise to answer one of the requests. A bit to ponder in this hymn. The idea of tumult's in life, of temptations and idols, joys and sorrows; life has many mixed aspects and all through these, Jesus Christ is calling to us follow Him. Have a look in the gospels to see what the King of kings life was like, to find out who it is that you are to follow.

Lyrics:

Jesus calls us o’er the tumult
Of our life’s wild, restless, sea;
Day by day His sweet voice soundeth,
Saying, “Christian, follow Me!”

Jesus calls us from the worship
Of the vain world’s golden store,
From each idol that would keep us,
Saying, “Christian, love Me more!”

In our joys and in our sorrows,
Days of toil and hours of ease,
Still He calls, in cares and pleasures,
“Christian, love Me more than these!”

Jesus calls us! By Thy mercies,
Savior, may we hear Thy call,
Give our hearts to Thine obedience,
Serve and love Thee best of all.

When everything in your life is all uphill and nothing makes sense, even the problems that you are trying to solve become more problems. Jesus calls us to just sit with Him. He calls us to love Him more than our struggles, our wants, our wishes. He calls us just to love Him more than this world. This song is just what I needed today.

This isn't the melody I'm accustomed to associating with this hymn, but I do like it . . . very well done!

What a smooth and lovely voice. More than that, you are so sincere, sun a genuine heart for Jesus. This really touched me. Grandma Molly

Thanks a lot for your work in Christ leading us to follow Jesus' precepts everyday. This is one of the first hymns I learnt to play on the piano...
