Yes agree with you, this movie is not a great TRADITIONAL narrative when it comes to storytelling in movies, but as telling the history truthfully, its probably one of Roland Emmerich's most accurate depictions of a historical film. It's more accurate than the 1976 film, but again, he does take liberties. But overall, If you're a history buff, you will like this film. Again I agree, It's not a memorable film but I think Roland did a very good job in presenting the historical facts.

Love Luke Evans in anything. From the sounds of it it’s not a great film but if I was in the mood for some shlock I’d watch and enjoy. I quite like bad films. As long as they are entertaining

I am giving this movie 3.5 stars only because "Hollyweird" managed to put their own twist on another historical event that was left out of one the most significant events of the War in the Pacific. To this date no other President (Truman) has had to make such a decision and that was the dropping of 2 nuclear bombs on Japan. I'm all about peace and love etc but that needed to happen in order to end the War in the Pacific. I'm sure I'll get TONS of negative comments about this but I'm all about accurately portraying historical events and this one fell short in my opinion. THANKS HOLLYWEIRD!

Fav War Movies: Midway (1976), Apocalypse Now, Hamburger Hill, Dunkirk, and We Shall Not Grow Old. OK, that last one is a documentary. Midway 2019 attempts too much and sacrifices story. Example: The submarine Nautilus scenes where it whiffed, are probably accurate but do not move the needle of the story one bit. It would have been better to cut it and use the time to build fuller character evolution.

Cut the crap. There is so much you can cram into 2 hours and they did a fine job of it. Movie was far better than Pearl Harbor and true to real events.
