Are you guys waiting to buy a new laptop or thinking about buying now?

Best wait to end of year, snapdragon vs lunar lake vs ryzen vs m4 epic battles and more fair comparison. Anyone can wait for laptop purchase should at least wait to black friday before make any purchase decision.

I bought an Asus TUF 505dt in 2020. It's still working great. I'll wait until there's a real upgrade to do

And I am considering to buy a laptop this year, as I bought my current laptop in 2016

Of course not, just bring your desktop with you!

Still using my LG Gram from 2019. Averaging around 7 hours battery a day, still runs smooth and light af (~1kg). Cloud gaming has also made improvements over the years so I haven't found the need to upgrade to a gaming laptop either.

My 9 year laptop just pooped out and I've been researching laptops all month, bought a Galaxy book 3 360 16 and returned it a week later. Been doing most of my work through my galaxy s22 ultra.

My main concern is lunar lake comes out, and snapdragon gets forgotten by Microsoft, like they did before. Considering I keep my laptop for around 5 years, I can’t be buying into a dead platform.

Just brought a 2024 14 inch HP Spectre x360. Battery life is great.
18.5 hours of continuous YouTube viewing (150 nits, wifi & battery saver on, 60 hz, background apps off).
Snapdragon Lenovo Slim gets 24.5 hours under the same condition, but can't run my statistical software.

I'm disappointed in the Snapdragon laptops because the GPUs are so abysmal. Also the performance depends on how the manufacturer configures it which also makes things confusing

Thanks for the video Matthew! I’ve been planning to get a new laptop for months now, but I feel it’s better to wait still as there’s SO MANY changes and news right now in the laptop world

All my stuff at home is Apple, .. but I have to admit I'm seriously tempted by a Surface Laptop 7. The only thing that's really holding me back is the fear of it being a 1st gen product. I think Software and OS updates will improve the chipset, .. but still a bit worried about ARM support for various peripherals and App vendors. If I do buy one, it certainly won't be my main machine for anytime in the near future.

Either Lunar Lake or AMD Strix Halo, but yeah, you're right. I want a thin and light that can also do some light/moderate gaming, so I'm personally waiting for both Strix Point and Lunar lake reviews to come out, and pick one of those, depending on which has better battery life or the best chassis, lol.

as a side comment, with Intel Ultra we saw the end of the upgreadable memory even in mid or large size laptops (e.g. XPS 16), which was a bummer for heavy users. I understand Lunar Lake is also SoC with memory integrated, so it is up to the HX series and hopefully some Ryzen AI models to have ram dimm slots.

Probably waiting for AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series Processors, but honestly screen (OLED - 4K more then 60hz) is pretty important on my next laptop.

30 percent compare to Meteor Lake.... what prevent you from just getting Ryzen 7000 laptop right now then?

I would say the other ongoing revolution is how affordable is now to get a top-notch accurate, color rich display, specially those "entry level" OLED panels from Asus. One use to pay a lot of money to get the "dreamcolor" version of a laptop screen, and now it is available at many price points. if only the dell would follow suit and dont charge that much.
