Packed with concrete, cars and crowds, cities are among the most degraded environments on the planet. That is why urban areas are a focus of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

New York Restoration Project is an example of what can be done to restore urban ecosystems. The project works to expand green spaces and help more people connect with nature in the biggest and most densely populated city in the United States. The 25-year-old non-profit nature conservancy, founded by Bette Midler, oversees 80+ acres of parkland and 52 community gardens throughout New York City.

Thanks!!! Reminds me of "allotments" in the UK but those cost money. We all need a free "space" to garden. Gardening feeds your soul.
