Next phase should be to connect with OBD II port and provide functionality for graphical outputs for engine diagnostics. Good video!!

For those who travel a lot or have a rental car from their company, using the SmartiPi Touch case and Raspberry Pi natively with the adafruit GPS hat for GPS and RTC clock. Then load it with Navit. Would be good for users who don't have a compatible android phone or iPhone. Plus it could then be moved from vehicle to vehicle without installing anything.

Wow. What timing. I replaced my wife's factory audio with a Kenwood aftermarket. Problem is, it caused her factory Navigation system not to work as it needs the factory radio as I just found out. I might just try replacing the factory Nav with this. The factory Nav didn't have traffic and I would prefer to use Google Maps or Waze anyway. Thanks so much for making this. You have given me some ideas for a cool solution. I wonder if it would make sense to do an always on battery connection for the Pi?

*Question* : @ 3:11 it's stated: "It's hooked up to my Android phone" (while demo'ing the LCD again). I'm not sure what the role the Android phone is playing at this point. My belief was that it's the Pi is running a Android application, no? Excuse my ignorance. Thanks & cheers!

If Bluetooth doesn’t work how are you getting data from the cell phone? I know this is a older video but did you get Bluetooth working?

So the RS is connected to a Android Auto compatible unit via a USB or HDMI ?

Well, I went thru the whole process on a Pi3B+ and Official 7". Comes up with the connection screen. I plug my phone in... both say Auto is connected but the screen on the Pi, flashes (quickly showin the Auto screen) but goes back to the configuration screen... And I can't figure out how to get out of it without hitting... EXIT. Any thoughts?

Does the phone need to be plugged in for it to work? If yes, how long does it take to load?

I don't got it, or it's just a Windows thing. Why don't people commit their script to git with execution bit set? 2:26

What does this project cost? What's the advantage of going this route instead of just getting like a Dasaita px5 android head unit?

What do I need to make an extension cable for my stereo. I'm thinking put the stereo in the glove box and install android in its old spot. Not afraid to solder, just don't want to cut any existing cables. Like what are the search terms for the connectors?

I’m thinking that you could give me some insight... I have a 1995 Mazda Miata that I’m planning on turbo-ing. I want to install a Raspberry Pi in the dash that runs my Bluetooth radio, navigation, rear view camera, and also will still be able to jump into tuner studio. It seems that running android auto will enable me to do most of that but I don’t think I’d be able to jump back and forth between that and tuner studio. Any suggestions or insight or correction where I may be wrong?

I know this is an older vid, but I'm having an issue. Script runs fine (apparently), though, I have to 'ok' through it. I'm running the latest Raspbian (Buster) - maybe that's the issue. But, when I complete the script, the unit doesn't reboot automatically. Also after rebooting manually and pulling power and hot-plugging, the system boots straight to desktop. Any assistance would be appreciated.
