They don’t get old, they just get lonely

Its so interesting to see this decades old equipment being used in a current war. Almost if you watch a WW2 documentary. It really reminds me of "You fight with what you have, and not what you wish for."

We use the same old piece for avalanche control. Though the avalanches don’t shoot back

I love how many old and obscure weapons are being used in this conflict, giving these old kings their time in the spotlight again

It's like seeing ww2 in color but in a modern conflict 🤯

My dad used that in the Army back in 61, when he was on the DMZ in Korea.

I'd use it to if I had to and be happy, the speed at which that "old" 105 can toss rain is still impressive.

My great grandparents came to America from Lithuania 🇱🇹. It warms my soul in some odd way to hear they and Ukraine are on the same side

My dad was on a Howitzer crew in the Vietnam era. We have a desk lamp made out of one of the shells.

very effective man killer not the longest range but the shell its light enough that you can keep up the rate of fire without too much crew fatigue see also 20 pounder

I trained on 105s just like that back in the mid 70's and ours were "old" then.

Nice to see that hearing protection in use.

It don’t matter how old it is, it just matters who’s behind the gun.

If it still able to lob 105mm projectiles at a distance, it is still useful as feck

Howitzer really said : *"PUT ME BACK IN THE FIELD COACH!!!!"*

There is a reason it lasted this long...

Love seeing those old girls still crackin on. Being 105mm, its 100% a viable artillery piece with PLENTY of modern ammo to throw at the orcs. Those were also built like tanks (no pun intended) and their barrels can go for ages and ages without wearing out. This is a good thing as it will likely not require maintenance, ever. At least in Ukraine.
