Prebiotics and Probiotics changed my health many years ago and still make the difference

Add more fermented foods to your diet like milk kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi etc it does wonders for your body! Saved me from constant bladder infections. Inflammation can also cause these issues as well. Plus taking a good probiotic on top of eating fermented foods is good

Probiotics are not just one microbe !! . NAtural fermented foods like Kefir have around 30-50 different types of bacteria . He is just peddling his products, You don't need prebiotic supplements to diversify your gut microbiome, you can just eat diverse varieties of plants . There was research that found that only four days of eating different plants dramatically increased the diversity of the gut microbiome.

I tried many probiotics… even prescription VSL3. None of them ever did anything. Then I tried making kefir from locally purchased milk… that made things genuinely worse. Then I tried making sauerkraut. I bought big stoneware crocks, shredded, pounded, salted, and aged the cabbage. That also did nothing. Prebiotics made things much worse. This is my experience so far. The only thing that helps is eating a diet completely devoid of fiber and any residual plant cellulose. I eat meat, fish, eggs, oils, and dairy. ….and a cup of freeze dried decaf blended with two tablespoons of butter every morning has helped. It sucks but this is how things are for me now. I guess it’s a form of purgatory for whatever I did in previous lives? I’m partially kidding, but maybe some day we’ll have access to fecal transplants and perhaps that might do something useful, though at this point, I have my doubts.

So the guy telling me about the problem is also selling the solution. Convenient.

they work for me just fine. maybe they don't work for everybody but as a person that has struggled with constipation most of my life, finding probiotics (one that worked cause it took a minute to find the right one) solved my stomach woes...including my acid reflux!!

My sister & I are small batch beetroot kvass fermenters in Australia.
We did not invent this remarkable tonic, it has been around for centuries.
In a world where we have strayed so far away from a natural way of living, we have found that it is not enough to get peoples health back on track only with a whole food diet and lifestyle overhaul. Properly fermented or cultured foods are absolutely key to healing the gut and healing lives.
We have people coming to us all the time so sick from a conventional medical system that has failed them.
Health is simple but our world has made it complicated.
Cultures have evolved with fermented foods for centuries….
they were always the condiment on the plate, never the main meal but they were consumed with every meal. Think sauerkraut in Europe, Kimchi in Korea, Miso’s in Japan, Kefired milk in Russia, Kvass in Eastern Europe, to name a few.
Healthy, beneficial microbes are vital to gut restoration. Not the ones found in a pill on a pharmacy shelf, but the food protected ones found in properly fermented foods.
They are the ones that turn Health around.
For many people it’s a long journey back but with cultured foods being reintroduced slowly and consistently over time, miracles happen.
You rebuild your gut micro biome you rebuild your immune system.
It’s not rocket science.

Fermented foods. Sauerkraut is the best. PSA: I grew a massive garden this summer with the sole purpose of making fermented food. My first jar I tried, got salmonella and almost died. So, beware if you try this. But yes, add pre and probiotics from food to your diet and eat some every day!

Saying that probiotics "don't work" is laughable, IMO. The key here is to clearly define your goal and, therefore, how you define the word "work." If you're looking for large-scale changes in the microbiota (diversity, richness), then he is correct- probiotics won't help much. But if you are looking for health outcomes such as a reduction in symptoms, improvement in a specific condition (ex. SIBO or Colitis), or prevention of something like abx-associated diarrhea, then probiotics absolutely do work. I know segments like this don't really allow for long discussions about complex stuff like this, but it really feels like he's just trying to sell his product here 🤷‍♀

Petrie dish poop. And I though the impossible burger was a bad idea. How have we survived this long without medicine? We are not evolving, we are devolving.

We don't need capitalism telling us how to take care of ourselves.

Interesting, I watch Korean dramas, and sometimes they would speak about giving dog poop to sick people. It's remarkable what people learned to do to survive. Even blood letting is linked to lowering the iron content in the blood which stimulates the immune response.

The guest is saying that probiotic pill won't work as they will be outnumbered by the existing bacteria in the gut...and after that he mentioned taking a capsule of someone else's gut bacteria...wouldn't they be out numbered as well???? By the way probiotic capsules help me for my digestion issues as well as ramping up my immune system to fight colds, flu etc
