Why use Prometheus? (for monitoring)

In this video tutorial I’m going to answer the question of “Why use Prometheus?”.

So you can make the best decision on whether to incorporate this tool into your software and infrastructure, I’ll address firstly “Why do we need monitoring in the first place?” so that you can understand what problems Prometheus is trying to solve.

Secondly I’ll cover why Prometheus is such a good choice for a monitoring system and what functionality it offers. This section has information about how you can include Prometheus in your own applications to expose metrics about how it's behaving.
