‘Left a good job in the city’… In 1971 Ike and Tina Turner released their own cover version of "Proud Mary," which proved to be just as successful as the original from
1969 from Creedence Clearwater Revival. It was penned by the band's frontman, John Fogerty, the song quickly climbed the charts, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Little did Fogerty know that his creation would go on to captivate audiences across generations and become a defining piece of music history. The origins of "Proud Mary" trace back to a significant moment in John Fogerty's life. Following his discharge from the National Guard, Fogerty found himself in a celebratory mood. Armed with a guitar and a burst of inspiration, he began strumming chords that would shape the song's iconic blues-rock anthem.
