TWD: Dead City - Season 1 - Official Intro (Episode 1.01)

A new beginning is underway for TWD Universe with the premiere of the new series, The Walking Dead: Dead City, bringing with it this stunning opening title sequence!

The intro (as seen in Episode 1.01 - ‘Old Acquaintances’) is very reminiscent in style of the credits that were seen throughout the original TWD series, but of course with a slightly different aesthetic spin on what we’re used to seeing in TWDU.

The intro showcases various animated shots of the post-apocalyptic New York City, some of which include explosions within the city, a ruined Times Square in the rain, an abandoned and destroyed subway, as well as alleyways that have been overgrown and taken back by nature in the 15 years since the beginning of the outbreak.

The opening titles incorporate the five main cast members of the series, as listed below:

- Lauren Cohan as Maggie Rhee
- Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan Smith
- Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong
- Željko Ivanek as ’The Croat'
- Mahina Napoleon as Ginny

Like with the intros for TWD, it’s possible that this intro for Dead City will see the addition of many little adjustments, easter eggs and modifications over the course of the series.

I love how this intro shows the fall of Manhattan. Really wish that they could've shown more of this. We could've seen more of the fall of basically the United States or the whole world if AMC didn't fire Frank Darabont.

I apricate the detail of having the World Trade Centre being half finished due to the outbreak taking place in 2010 when the show started it shows they paid a lot of attention when making this compared to most spinoffs

Looks and sounds like classic Resident Evil from a 90's Playstation's graphics and music. Love it!

The US Coast Guard HH65 stuck in the Time Square screen reminds me of the opening of I Am Legend(2007). Same exact helicopter. Wouldn't be too surprised if it too went down due to either being swamped by walkers/escapees. Or simply a pilot that turned mid-flight.
