Epic list with tons of great suggestions. When you talked about the reverse of Watchmen I immediately thought of Tom Strong (and his family) also by Alan Moore... I love that series but maybe it never got a lot of traction.
I'm not sure if I think of the Turtles or Hellboy as superheroes...always difficult to know where that line is. I know that Eisner didn't want to do a superhero, but he was hired to create one by the comics syndicate, so he threw a mask onto his character. But I think it's still reasonable to argue Spirit is a superhero of sorts.

Spawn is not just the best non marvel and dc comic but probley the best comic book

Kick ass was best when it was a one-off in my mind. Never really felt like a story that should continue to me.

Image Comics is owned by Marvel though. Spawn is from Image Comics and everyone considers Spawn to be part of the Marvelverse.
