Queenstown - Scenic spots along the road from Queenstown to Glenorchy
Показать описание
Sunshine Bay is a short drive from Queenstown (on the way to Glenorchy) on the way to Glenorchy). The views is pretty much the same as in Queenstown central with all the mountains surrounding Lake Wakatipu. We did the trail there, but give up in the middle as we think that walking along the beach is more relaxing than the trail itself.
The road to Glenorchy from Queenstown is packed full of interesting places to stop, and one of the more relaxing ones is Wilson Bay. It’s a lovely little beach with stunning mountain views. I personally like the view here more than the Sunshine Bay.
Bobs Cove was actually one of my favourite spot in all of Queenstown. This secluded area offered escape from the summer tourist crowds, and the pleasant nature walk to the pier and a picturesque lookout make for the perfect short excursion, especially for those heading towards Glenorchy from Queenstown. The cove also has such crystal clear turquoise water great for photos and maybe swimming.
A new lookout at Bennetts Bluff just opened one months before we visited. It is situated on the side of the Queenstown - Glenorchy Road at Mt Creighton you'll find a small lay-by where you can park and take in the magnificent views of the Humboldt Ranges, Mt Earnslaw and the top end of Lake Wakatipu.
Glenorchy, a true slice of New Zealand paradise, is surrounded by magnificent snow-capped mountains, and sits a spectacular 45-minute drive from Queenstown. Its spectacular landscapes have become a prime location for film scouts, depicting many scenes from The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as featuring in the Narnia movies.
Twenty kilometres away from Glenorchy, as bucolic farmland gives way to beech forests, lies Paradise. Some say it was christened for its natural charms, others for the paradise ducks that live in the area. Nobody can say for sure how it got its name, but the one thing people agree on is its breathtaking beauty. The first thing you’ll notice in Paradise is the sign. Actually, that’s one of the only things you’ll notice. There’s pretty much nothing else there. Did some research and found that there are scenic short walk which we didn’t manage to find it due to bad weather. Maybe next time!
After all, we headed to Nugget Point Private Outdoor Hot tubs which is perched high above the picturesque Shotover River, with sweeping views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Their private outdoor hot tubs are spectacular hidden gems.
