Ford should have put an inspection plug in the sump to check the oil pickup.

Thumbs up, not bored of the wet belt stuff - they will come in different models and different mileages and maintenance - good for comparison - there's a lot of wariness of anyone buying a 1.0 ecoboost who are on the net researching a new car purchase.

Thanks for taking the time to film your work and edit and upload!

Yes, you do a lot of them, but like you say, it might be the same job, but everyone that you do comes with there own difficulties, snapped bolts siezed bolts etc. Keep them coming is what I say. 💪👍

I will keep watching these learning from every one done. I like to see the state of the belt, sump, and oil pick up versus the mileage. It's great info, giving us an idea of the lifespan of a belt. A clean pick up looks like the car had regular oil changes, but the deterioration of the belt seems to tie in with the mileage. Great data. Thanks Baz

Currently in the middle of this job on my son's fiesta. 2014 with 77k miles. Air compressor and cat bolts came off without issue but one bolt on the exhaust wouldn't budge. Tried drilling but my drill bit hardly made an impression. Resorted to a dremel to cut it off from behind.
The torque multiplier made light work of the crank bolt (cheap Chinese versio).
I did have issues getting the front cover back on...I was following the ford manual Torque specs which call for a funal torqu of 15nm +90° but obe if the bolts snapped. Rather than risk any more snapping, I removed the cover and cleaned off the rtv. Got new bolts from local ford supplier. I wonder if Baz omits the final 90° to avoid shapping. Anyway, just put the crank pully back on and hope to button it up tomorrow and Saturday. Belt was showing signs of cracking and delamination and there were a few particles in the oil pickup. Hugh thanks to Baz for all the wet belt videos...i felt like an armchair professional and well versed, ready to tackle the job!

Great job as always Baz, yes you do alot of wet belts but im sre your followers are always interested in the milage and state of the pick up. Have you thought about trying to get some sort of 3d printed bolt holder for all your wet belt jobs?. Thanks Baz🤙🤙

Great video Baz, you can do these with your eyes closed now :) how can you identify which belt is in the engine (the 16mm or 18mm) you can tell by VIN or only after taking off the rocker cover?

Really looking forward to see an oil pump belt change on the revised 1.0. i am curios about the condition of both the belt and the timing chain.

I think it would be useful to film the old belt, to see if it was there are any cracks or damage sings, in the future. Nice job! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
In your experience, what is the correct milage to change the timing belt for 1l ecoboost?

Another good video Baz, had mine done a couple of months ago at 73000 miles and oil pump was fine, as I always service it myself using correct castrol oil. Can I ask do you not change the water pump at the same time? Always great to watch you video's.

Are the oil pump belts ever as cracked as the drive belt? Only as on newer engines they still have it…

@bazmeredith if you were half way through a wet belt job, just about to start putting it back together, and you found a small black oring on the ground, about 16mm in diameter, would you have any idea where it might have come from? There's a myriad of disconnected pipes but not sure which would use a 16mm oring....
