Using Cope and Stick Bits for Panel Doors

This is part 1 of 2 on a kitchen island that I made for the same customers that wanted the end grain counter top. This project went pretty quick since I didn't film the cabinet assembly. Don't worry I will touch on the construction details at the end of part 2. This episode will show you how to use your router to make panel doors using a cope and stick bit set. I hope you enjoy and don't forget to comment, rate and subscribe!

Bloopers at the end make me feel a little better about my time in the shop.  You always see the guys doing everything perfect in their videos but then you go in your shop and its a mess.  I enjoy your videos.

I love watching a video and picking up little tricks that seem so obvious... But you never think of. Thanks for the video

You are an excellent instructor. If you get a chance to take advantage of that skill, go for it.

I just subscribed today and I already enjoy you videos. Your work center is fantastic. I wish I had the room to build something like that.

New subscriber and really like your channel.  I'm a total beginner and appreciate the clarity of your explanations.

I enjoy your finish work and would like to see more of that along with tips on how to make things have that fine finished look.

I thought the story board was a brilliant technique and loved that tip, and perhaps it's been around forever but I saw it from you first.

I wouldn't mind hearing more explaining.  I know it's hard to balance the length of the video with the information content and people's attention span.  Too little explanation, and it only resonates with the people that already know how to do it.  Too much and the more experienced viewers want you to get on with it already.

Keep them coming!!

Rofl Drew, you made me laugh so hard with the bloopers I woke up the kids I was suppose to be putting to bed, so I let them watch, apparently 2 yr 9 month olds don't quite see the humor I saw. But they did enjoy, "him cutting like daddy."

Great video, awesome bloopers!

Ever used space balls when making doors ?  They hold the panel tight and still allow for expansion etc.  Just stick them in before inserting the panels.
Just joined after hearing of your channel from WWMM.  Had a cabinet shop for 30 years, now retired and working in a garage..HUGE difference.. thanks for the tips, enjoy your videos.

Seeing simple projects being done right greatly advances others can do skills.  You really need to make that fence for your router.  Give a look at mine but don't expect the video quality you obviously have mastered.  I am sure you could adapt it to fit your needs.

Nice instructional video...There are several router bit sets that do a good job without having to pay a fortune! I got a really nice set from Amazon that cost less than $40USD I believe. No sanding needed...don't recall the brand, but they are yellow.

Also, who built the previous island body structure that is falling apart? You hint that you built it, but something tells me better?

That's one of the main reasons why I don't speak at all in my videos. All these tongue twisting woodworking words can get you lol. Great work though buddy. I like.

@mprice7676: I know what you mean, my dear text they came from Harbor freight for around 40 bucks. They were great and I didn't have to spend a fortune. The original Island at sleeve was off-the-shelf from a big box store. I made the countertop that was originally in my earlier videos. No, I would shoot myself if I made that and passed it to somebody for money. Thanks for the faith.

nice outtakes.  That is what I feel like trying to talk to an inanimate object (the camera) too.

I don't understand if you went all the way down to the bearing, why you have to pinch it between the table saw fence and router bit? Couldn't you have just run it on the other side and made sure you were bottomed out against the bearing?
