This is something I don’t get why other billionaires don’t do, have your billions in an index fund and earn tens of million/ hundreds per year

To clarify: Buffett said in his 2013 letter to shareholders that he believes that this strategy's long-term results will be superior to those attained by most investors who employ high-fee managers. In other words, he thinks passive investing beats active investing over the long run for the vast majority of people and has recommended the S&P 500 on numerous occasions.
