I still can't get over you not knowing House of the Rising Sun, it's a classic! great song and chord sequence, fairly simple too. I see most people play Smoke on the Water wrong because of the key, or they use a pick ( Ritchie mostly uses two finger to pinch the two strings for the riff or pick and finger to pinch them ) he also frequently moves it around on the neck. The hard part is actually getting the rhythm right in the verse, it's mainly just Gm but then has that F on the 3rd beat of the last bar of each line for just one beat.
