Affordable Watch Brand Tier List

Today were doing a tierlist because the video ideas I had before were cancelled due to shipping lol. This is a tierlist about affordable watch brands not specific models and of course its my opinion so don't get too annoyed! This includes : Seiko, Orient, Citizen, Brew, Mitch Mason, Lorus, Vario, Casio, G-Shock, San Martin, Seagull, Tissot, Timex, Swatch, Mido, Christopher Ward, Baltic, and more! Inspired by Nico Leonard.

(Some bits of watch footage by Teddy Baldassarre, The Mad Watch Collecter, Watch Gringa, Watchfinder and more!)

Excellent tier list, and I think spot on. Owning $2000-4000 Swiss pieces and seeing a $350 San Martin in person I totally get why they're up there with g shock. Love your content, and thanks for opening our eyes to some of these lesser known brands.

The Powermatic 80 is not a bad movement by any means. They are very serviceable.. The plastic escapement rumour (implying the movement is not serviceable and was made to be replaced) was exactly a rumour, take it to your local watchmaker and see. Any competent watchmaker can service it, and even regulate it just fine.

I have a quartz PRX (White Dail) and Gentleman (Blue Dail) and I think thats the sweetspot for Tissot.

Although I was gifted an Le Loce with the powermatic a few years ago, no issues do far.

Very good list! I agree with most of your choices but I don't have any experience with some of these so I will take your word on it! The camera died at a hilarious point haha! I do think Citizen is better than Timex. They have some crazy good and diverse options. Seiko aren't bad by any means but as you said the prices are up and the quality has gone down. Orient is going to eat their lunch. You should see how expensive they are in South Africa. 😭 Hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

I am in my 50s but for some reason only this year started to really appreciate watches. Growing up I had two Seikos, and then the last 3 years wore a smart watch. Now I love watch designs and movements. I read up on the history of these luxury watches but to be honest, they don't do much for me. Love your list, however, let me add a few more. Chinese microbrands: Corgeut, Pangani Design, Cronos, Boderry, Cadisen, Pascal. American microbrands: Solios, Jack Mason. Let me know what you think about these brands too!

Haven't you seen the Vario 1918 Trench watch? Looks class to me.

Orient is amazing, but a microbrand?! Since when? Orient is part of the Seiko-Epson Group (with Lorus for that matter).

I have a couple of Paganis and they've been great for years. They're not the equal of San Martin for sure, but I would say that they're even better value than San Martin as they have 316L stainless steel construction, sapphire crystals, Seiko (and Miyota) movements and they're still beautiful watches.

You're basing your opinion of Tissot entiely on the PRX Automatic? That watch was an afterthought as the quartz version is the real PRX. As for their dials, look at the dial of a Seastar 2000 or a Le Locle and then tell me that their dials are boring. Also, the Powermatic 80 in my Seastar 2000 gets +-4 seconds a day after two years of ownership. That's COSC-class and if you think that's bad, I don't know what to tell you. If you want accuracy. get a quartz because nobody has ever chosen an automatic watch for accuracy.

Then you put Mido in Amazing and say they have good movements even though their movement is also the Powermatic 80 which you just finished dumping on. Sure, they don't have the synthetic escapement but that hasn't proven to be a problem in the Tissots over the years that they've been produced.

If you want to see the best watch from Invicta (that isn't a Rolex homage) just look at the Invicta Grand Diver (specifically the #3049).

This tier list isn't "bad" but it's not great because clearly, your experience with watches is limited by your young age. You'll be of a different mind in five years or so.

I think the Pro Diver and 1953 earn Invicta a spot in the 'alright' tier, but I can otherwise co-sign on your list. I notice you didn't include Vincero, though it's not hard to guess where you'd slot that brand. I wonder if you might consider objectively reviewing one of Vincero's automatic offerings. Despite the flack that Vincero gets as a brand, on paper their automatics seem very good (Myota 9000-series movements, sapphire crystals, industry standard stainless steel cases and bracelets, etc). The Vincero Argo, for example, at least on paper, seems like a solid diver.

Citizen below Timex lol. Timex even looks cheap from the pictures. and they way overpriced for a "fun" watchbrand like swatch same quality with bad qc.

I think better you make Classification Affordable watch such as :
1. in house movement and history heritage,
2. Micro Brand : independent design, limited production, .
3. Homage : look like, inspiratin, copy design but mass production.
4. Fashion watch
Agree ? 😊

Invicta isn't bad. I have a couple and they are very good bang for your buck. Tissot only 'good'? Come on!
