I love a maiden speech. It's the most personal statement most MPs make in parliament and gives small regions a spotlight for a moment. After that, parliament sometimes feels a bit like two sides of parrots, all towing whatever line is in vogue, and using the highlighted phrases ''coalition of chaos'' or ''strong and stable'' or whatever is meant to settle in the minds of watchers. I know, it's the reality of party politics but the upshot is, the maiden speeches sound refreshing and genuine in comparison.

If your going to increase (Capital Gains Tax) CGT, please do it in a wealth redistribution manner by restoring the threshold from when CGT is payable to at lease £12, 000 per year and increase the % rates.
Also restore the income tax thresholds, even if that means cancelling the % rate tax cut.

We don't want to tax the ordinary people more for investing to combat inflation or keeping up earnings with cost of living.
