The biggest kicker here is that Omniman just refuses to apologize, even when Mark tells him he should do that. It shows how he still has a long way to go and doesn't want to get off his high horse just yet.

Look at Nolan’s arms when Mark hugs him. Dude was ready to beat the shit out of his son again if he was actually attempting to attack him here. Like after all the shit Nolan caused, he won’t even let Mark have a pity punch to let his anger out, he would’ve thrown hands.

I love the lunge Mark does to Nolan. I think it was a test to see if Nolan wanted to fight but when he doesn't flinch he goes for the hug. Also the Thraxan's must have thought these guys were standing there for ages considering their aging.

Also prefer the way this was done than the comics. Mark reacted in a much more realistic way.

I actually really like this. Nolan killed thousands of people without a care. Sure he was a "superhero" for decades but that's because it was his mission in conquering the earth. The moment it was time, he wiped the Guardians out and basically laughed over their graves by giving that eulogy. You don't get to just come back from all that. Especially since he still didn't even apologize to Mark for beating him nearly to death. His own son who loved him so dearly that he said he would still love his father in 500 years even after said beating.

You can actually see the soul leave Mark's eyes as he sees his father tonguing a grasshopper. It's really quite fascinating.

I love how much you can tell Mark desperately wants his dad back, but he knows what Omni-Man did was irredeemable and for the sake of himself, his mom, and all of the people Nolan took away he refuses to take the easy way out and play nice with him.
