Child killers/ predators should automatically be given life sentences with no parole.

Why is a child killer in a minimum security facility with escorted work leave? This is insane. Her family is being victimized all over again.

I don't think she went with him willingly. I don't believe she would leave her friend's new bike out on the street to go off with a stranger to look at birds. Not buying that.

I can’t believe these monsters do what they do to these young children and then when they get 25 years/no parole they have the nerve to cry for themselves…unbelievable

The sentence of anyone who takes a child's life should be solitary confinement for the length of time that the child should have lived. in that case 75 years at least, with NO chance of parole.

He should never get parole ever! What a sicko. Great job finding the killer.

Adults get in fights, irritate and antagonise each other so sometimes there may be a reason. Killing a child is inexcusable and should always be life! Not life, but they get out after an inadequate sentence. Life as in they die in prison!

Inspector Alain Bouchard is simply an amazing police officer. The care and meticulousness of his on-site investigation is simply amazing. Most police officers would probably have taken a cursory look, especially since nothing was actually stolen, and then shoved off. Imagine a scenario where more police officers would have his work ethic—crime would be virtually impossible to get away with and crime rates would fall quickly. The community being cared for by Inspector Bouchard is incredibly lucky.

They're very lucky to have received information from the dispatcher lady. I don't think they would have ever solved this case without the dispatcher's tip.

This is a VERY distressing event and the law needs to take crimes against children much more seriously. Authorities need to start listening and believing children when they are told of child sexual abuse and they need to be given longer sentences!!!

Heartbreaking 🥺😔🙏🏻 My son is 10. I trust NO ONE when it comes to my children. This hits home for me. She had not a care in the world other than friends and playing w dolls when she was taken. To know how scared she must have been haunts me.

"Kids don't leave a lot of fingerprints...." Says the guy who has clearly never had to clean up after kids.

He should've gotten the remainder of his natural life in there, not just 25 years! :( Heartbreaking for Heather. 💔😢

The punishment is pathetically insufficient!

Eligible for parole after 25 years? wow...that's pretty lenient. After all the hard work by the detectives and the 5 months trial (that long huh?)..

I love hearing how stealth RCMPs are allowed to be with their warrants (compared to how things are down here in the states).... I chuckled at the statement "they let him believe his car was stolen" while they conducted a detailed search on it! Well done investigation!

The fact a detective is experienced to know the killer will move the body is impressive. I’d like to know the name of the first detective who realized a killer will move a body.
