Why don't Aomos just activate the codecs on the device in the factory? This current way of having to register and download and if the download fails having to contact Atomos support is like a car company selling cars that if people want to drive faster than 30mph customers have to download a code and install it into the car's stereo to activate their cars to be able to drive faster than 30mph. It's stupid.

I did everything you said unzipped the bin put in an ssd put the ssd in the atomos ninja v and nothing, I have a blackmagic video assist 12g and the first time I put it in my camera I was ready to press record straight away without doing anything, then decided to go with atomos and here I am, 5 hours trying to install the prores raw codec.

When doing an instructional video, it is nice to have voice over guidance in addition to the screen hints. The phone hold music is not helpful.

I am unable to activate ProRes Raw and H.265. I scanned the code, registered on the site and the only available feature for my atomos ninja 2 (2023) is AVID Dnx, why? why isn't ProRes Raw and H.265 available for my device. I can't even download the token for AVID Dnx and yes I am on the latest firmware update for my device which is 11.04.00, the button doesn't even work on the website to download the token for AVID neither. What is really going on? and customer care is neither here or there. This is outrageous. Can someone help me please.

tried to activate the codec using a SSD but does not work. watched this video and followed the instructions and still doesn't work. searched online and forums for a solution, nothing online either.

YIKES!!! DONE IT! My ancient Mac unzipped and exposed the activation. bin! Copied it onto a ssd and booted the ninja V and boom. Can't believe it.. tried for a week with PCs and failed.

This method of code doesn't work for the new FW (10.64). To see the Token you have to manually add the AID in the website so the download token would be available otherwise you'll only receive a code by e-mail that doesn't help at all.

Wow so, you pay $600.00 for the unit but, can't use one of it's desired features until you shell out another $99.00!? Wth?! That's highway robbery! You all should be ashamed of yourself. Give Ninja V users the SDI Raw for free!!

Mine has no activation tab and no "no input" at the top.... why is mine different? I bought it brand new today and this video is a month old? Im finding the ninja v setup to be super confusing

ATOMOS -- just wanted to let you know that this entire process is unforgivable to unlock an advertised feature of a product, as well as being the least user friendly registration process I have ever encountered. I won't purchase another Atomos product while this is in place.

Hello, this is my first review that I'm writing because I feel incredibly cheated!

I decided to order the most expensive recorder by far, thinking it's better to invest money once to have something decent. But I must say that what Atomos delivers is beyond outrageous!
To start with, they provide absolutely NOTHING, I mean NOTHING at all.
No battery, no cable (MicroHDMI to HDMI), no SSD. (I didn't expect the latter, but the first two are definitely expected at this exorbitant price)

So, I ended up buying all the missing parts for a total of €100.

But that's not the end of it; the real outrage is yet to come.

I wanted to start recording with the camera now, and it works with the default codec.

BUT

The only codec available is Apple ProRes. Just to put it into perspective, the files with this codec are gigantic! In my test (Sony a7iii):

3 hours of recording require 1000 GB (1 TB). This is because the codec has very little compression.

So, I thought I'd like smaller files and tried to use the H.265 codec, which would take up only a fraction of the storage space.

For 3 hours of recording, the storage would probably need less than 150 GB.

And here's the ultimate audacity: this codec is an absolute STANDARD, used by almost everyone. Now, ATOMOS says I have to register my device with them to access this codec. ONLY THEN can I download it, transfer it to the SSD, and install it myself.

But it gets worse. Being forced to create an account for something that should be standard is one thing. And the registration process is far from pleasant; they require three different hidden numbers to proceed. I haven't even completed that part yet.

Now here's the ultimate outrage.

I do NOT get the codec for FREE!!!

I'm a student, and I've invested my entire month's wages in this device!

For THE absolute standard codec, they demand not €5 or €10, but a whopping €100, and it's not even from them. The same goes for other codecs!

This is daylight robbery at its finest!

This is premeditated!

How can I update codecs on a second hand purchased Ninja V that has been previously registered to someone else?

i follow all the instruction step by step but when i unzip the files from my email the activation.bin missing

I downloaded the file it will unzip then it has a .bin file. I'm on a Mac . on newest operating system and it won't unzip the bin file. it keeps telling me it can't be extracted. after trying four different softwares and redownloading 9 times and trying to just put the bin file on the sd and load it that way to the ninja v nothing has worked!!! please help id really like to shoot proresraw and potentially buy the h65 but if I can't get dynx or proresraw to get on the ninja I wouldn't risk spending the money for other codecs until I get the trouble resolved. my firmware on the ninja v is on the newest operating system also. help
