I'm already in the third year of my college in elementary education. Watching your videos makes me so excited and worried at the same time, when my dreams of teaching the children are gradually becoming a reality.

My favorite teachers when I was a “little” were always the very young “cool” teachers. Just like how the littles like teenagers, they like people who communicate with them like teenagers as well (the same attitude/energy, but obviously age-appropriate material). We all hated being babied when we were little, we liked someone who talked to us like “big kids” because it made us feel cool. I was a nanny for several years before getting married. I always talked to the kids like their cool big sister or cool aunt. There was a lot of “Dude, what was that?” And “that wasn’t very bright, men”, “girl, what would you do if I flopped on the floor and screamed when I was unhappy?” They would always laugh and be like “that would be silly/weird” and I was like “ya, it’s still silly and weird when you do it, so how about you get up and come talk to me instead, no one wants to hear all that noise, just tell me what you need and we’ll see what we can do about it together”.

Just talk to them like the little people they are- like normal people but who were basically born almost yesterday and don’t understand how the whole “social” and “feelings” things work yet.

Lol! -You think?!
Repetition is a wonderful learning tool for little ones. And so is movement.

When I was in elementary I was bullied and the only thing I heard was “maybe she’s got something going on at home she didn’t mean it” they defended the bully not me

I used to teach 4 year olds. One day while outside during the winter ( in Wisconsin so lots of snow and cold) we started lining up to go inside and I notice that one boy had only socks on. I asked him where his boots were. He looked down and in shock and disbelief shouted "my boots! Where did they go?"
Hmm, I don't think they could have walked away without you.
I looked around and noticed another boy heaping snow into a pile with a very suspicious look on his face... 😂
Still have no idea why or how the boots "went missing" without the boy knowing. 😂🤦‍♀️

The sweet spot is 8th grade because it’s before they turn into moody high schoolers, but after they’ve gone through their spoiled middle school phase.

I subbed for elementary a few times and didn't realize how often little kids will lie about you and how often thier regular teachers actually believe them. It's scary.

LOL! I was very confused because in my world "subbing the littles" means something VERY different.

Hey Mrs. Rogers. I’d like your opinion on something if you see my comment. When my brother was in kindergarten he was silently praying to himself over his snack he was about to eat and the teacher told him that he couldn’t do so. My mom called the teacher about it when he got home and explained what happened to her because she thought that it was wrong of the teacher to say anything to him about it. He was praying to himself so it wasn’t disturbing any other children, but the teacher had told him that he “Couldn’t pray in Jesus name because it was offensive to other people”. I’d like to know how you feel about this. Do you think the teacher was wrong for saying that to him or do you think my mom was wrong for saying something to the teacher about it? I’d just like to know from a teachers perspective. I love your content!🤍
