I think this mechanic is great but it would be better if the arc rune fragments were a resource you could farm or infinitely purchase, or the great runes persisted through death. Otherwise, it’s kind of just a cool optional thing. I’m actually more interested in collecting talismans as passive buffs.

You die so often that at some point you just stop activating the great runes again. They should've made the effect permanent.

Level 100 and I just found this out. Elden Ring is great but it absolutely sucks at explaining really important things to the player.

Just finished the game after defeating all the rememberance bosses and evergaols without even trying to use these runes. I even went and activated them all just never bothered to work out how to use them

Feels like a win more mechanic. If you die a lot you're going to burn through the arcs fast. If you don't die a lot you don't really need them but they make the game easier.

Sucks there's no way to farm them without engaging in multi-player.

I'm 78 hrs in and didn't even know how to activate it. I went to that exact door but it didn't open for me. So I just went back because I assumed it was for a later game area 🙃 😅 thanks for the video.
