I've been prototyping these custom silicone molds and I have made forms out of HDPE plastic. These silicone pen blank molds made from Alumilite Plat25 and Alumilite silicone dyes turned out pretty well.

The leveling feet is a genius idea. I've made a few small molds and didn't realize that my molds were not level until after my first blank. Great tip!

Absolutely ingenious designs. When you start selling, I will be buying. Congratulations on creating a wonderful product for all casters.

Jake, both patterns look amazing. The one on the right does catch your eye first.

Some neat ideas there Jake, I think the one on the left is my fave especially the bottom 'that's the way it would be displayed on my shelf' :) You have just reminded me that I haven't turned a pen in a couple of years, still got a few kits left. Hope your well Dude! TFS, GB :)

couple of thoughts:
1. Thread the HDPE directly vs using inserts. HDPE takes threads very well, a paired tap/drill combo is readily available from HD or Amazon.
2. Use HDPE rod to make pins/dowels to 'register' the insert/blank... if you use two pins each you may get away with using only one bolt or screw per blank reducing assembly and demolding time.
3. to reduce flashing, make the mating surface on the blank/insert slightly concave, so that tightening will force the seam to seal first(kinda like a spring joint for wood tabletop panels)

Thanks for such complete and explicit content! Keep up the awesome work.

BTW-- made it to the end... left, but right may come in handy with composite blanks(assuming you allowed for saw kerf to cut into individual blanks)

Great video. Like both of them but mostly the one on the right. Hope you do decide to sell them would love to buy one, once I get approval from the boss :) Great idea with different colors as no one out there makes different color pen blank molds.

Very interesting process. I've never made molds so the process is cool. I like the pattern on the right the best and I think the green should be a lighter shade. Good thinking went into this project. Thank you

Right side. How about a mold with it staying a bit clear with a little swirl? Do you have a video showing how you made the plastic molds in particular how to install inserts and what type of inserts?
