My 2014 Chevy Cruze now has 193, 000 miles on it and still going strong. Yes I've had many of these problems but they don't break the bank. The engine and manual transmission have been solid. Also my first set of tires got 102, 000 miles and my second set have 91, 000 and still going strong. Also, I have the original turbo and brakes! So it's okay if it is taken care of. FYI I bought it new.

The most important thing they did not mention in the manual transmission 1.8 L engine is the transmission bearing fail. Mine lasted 100k miles and I am due for new transmission which at the dealer, just the transmission is $4500 and the second one is $8900 ( I am not sure which type I have). However the car is worth about $3500 alone. I used it for 11 years with just oil changes and tires, no other issues. It paid for itself.

The 1.6l engine sold in Europe is quite reliable. Same engine is used in Opel Astras of same age.
Suspension, breaks are CHEAP

Had a cruze and i am extremly picky on proper maintenance, which i do my self. thie peice of junk still burned oil like crazy, went through 3 thermostats and had a bad head gasket, and bad bearings in the transmission in the end, it had about 140k on it and was ready to explode at any time, so i traded it in. never buying another GM product after that experience.

Mine is 2013. Had so many coolant and oil leak issues. I fix one and it leaks from somewhere else. I still have one but not worth fixing it.

I was hoping that the Cruze can be Americas answer to Japans WRX. A RS Cruze with Ecotec Turbo AWD producing 300HP. Only a pipe dream. GM has truly lost its way of building cars people actually want to buy and drive.
