Thanks very informative and detailed explanations... I used the grinder and flat head screwdriver to remove old window locks. Fast and easy solution to a problem we have had for years! Subscribed.

If you're using #4, you should probably cover the glass as sparks from the grinder will actually melt into the glass. Tape some newspaper or plastic sheeting over it just so the sparks can't hit it.

The first tip, trying to tighten it first to see if it will move and also loosens the threads slightly. No2 using left hand drill bit and drilling anticlockwise might release it quicker.

My trick that worked:

Use a Dremel tool (ran at low-medium speed) along with a small diamond bit(around 1-2mm diameter) to sculpt the rounded. sides into steeper or even vertical (at 90 degrees from the. original CW slot) sides to be able to remove the screw with a flat screwdriver.

Do not run the Dremel at high speed, heat being diamond's worst enemy.

I needed to repair the power cord on a portable heater. I wanted to save the rubber feet that the screws held, so drilling through wasn’t an option. I drilled part way into the head and, then reversed the drill, applying pressure. The security screw easily turned out without damaging the rubber feet.

Which easy out screw extractor would you recommend? I am in UK and many of them do nothing

I managed to just put a lot of pressure and it loosened up, thanks for the video though.

1:20 - this picture and your thumbnail are flipped backwards. The screw shown would remove easily, but be hard to install (except that by reversing it, you also make it left-hand thread).

I was lucky that I didn't screw in my yaledoor locl for 300$ fully back then. Could remove them easy. Buying a new front door but I don't want to spend another 300$ 🎉

the Nissan screws I normally turn to snake bite heads, but I'm guessing this is one of the many situations where it doesn't matter how it's done as long as the end result is success. & I think some people use those 1 way screws just to be buttheads.. haha
