Why is a one-handed shot recommended over a two-handed shot? Is there a particular benefit to it that I'm missing?

I play Basketball and Netball . In Netball I play GS GA WA WD GD GK and when I play GS or GA I use a mixed technique of Netball and Basketball

As a basketball player i find this so weird. Is there rules against having a ball released at a lower set point? if not then I feel like that would be more controllable and effective and also quicker.
