Epic Climb with 300m fall at Thailand’s Most Dangerous Temple in Bueng Kan!

Today, we’re taking on Thailand’s most dangerous temple, Wat Phu Tok, in Bueng Kan Province. Join me as I tackle this heart-pounding climb toward enlightenment, where every step tests your courage, and every view is breathtaking. Founded by Ajahn Juan, who was drawn to the mountain’s dangerous wildlife like tigers and snakes, Wat Phu Tok’s seven levels were hand-built by monks to represent the journey to enlightenment.

The climb is not for the faint-hearted! We’ll navigate narrow, rickety wooden planks and ladders that wrap around the rock face, rising up 300 meters high with only a wooden plank between you and a steep drop. The 6th level offers an unforgettable, 360-degree plank walkway around the rock edge, while the 7th level opens up to sweeping views of pure nature. Wat Phu Tok is one of Thailand’s most thrilling, slightly terrifying, and beautiful temples!

After conquering Wat Phu Tok, we’ll journey to Three Whales Rock in Bueng Kan’s Isan region, where massive ancient stones and panoramic views make it one of Thailand’s most incredible hidden gems. Along the way, I’ll meet friendly locals, savor delicious Isan food, and uncover the unique beauty and spirit of this remarkable region.

This is my hometown. When I was a teenager, I often rode a motorcycle to Bueng Kan and went with my friends. I climbed Phu Tok 6 times. During the rainy season, there are many waterfalls that I went to for a week with my friends. It was really fun. Now I live near Bangkok and rarely go back to Bueng Kan. Thank you, brother. I guess I have reached level 6 in my climb. It's a whaley good place to be!
I love that you giggle at your own puns. It just lends another element to your boyish charm. Never, ever lose your sense of wonder &, seriously, never allow others to deplete your joy.
As you can see from the monks, building a "temple" is not easy. Your "temple" is a testament found in your commitment to bring Isaan to those of us who may never get to experience it.

Very nice VDO as usual and also nice temple. I think the municipal administrative authority should replace thsoe wooden stairs and railings on the cliff with iron ones, like those on Sigiriya's Lion Rock, in Sri Lanka. The old, precarious wooden stairs like in this VDO are so dangerous to climb up to the top. I wouldn't definitely dare risk my life climbing them. I really love the picture of you riding a stick-broom... That's so amazing..HaHaHa
