From what I remember of all my years in the ae86 community here in California since the 2002 and owning a total six 86s in the past was that all ae86 Hatches are stick, no matter if sr5 or GTS, auto was only offered in the sr5 coupe, atleast here in California. In 2003 i had an opportunity of buying a one owner factory automatic GTS Hatch, but me being a 20yr old I was turned off because it was automatic transmission. The owner was a war veteran that lost his left foot and ordered a GTS hatch with and auto transmission from the dealer. Im sure that unique feature is worth something to collectors now lol

the edit of all them being seen in movies was awesome, makes me wonder where some of the clips are from, especially the fake out at the stop light clip and the one that look's like intro credits where there drifting on a track towards the end

Been looking to buy an 86 SR-5 hatch as a daily. Found a couple of clapped out ones and left notes behind. Good video, dude. YouTube recommended it to me since I'm getting ready to buy my childhood dream car and have been watching a lot of videos about them again. I saw that BaT listing you mentioned for 33k and man does that car look gorgeous but I immediately thought to myself that I'd be too scared to drive it. So I left notes on the two clapped silver cars in my neighborhood that definitely need paint and interior work lmao

What a great video. I started looking for these out of curiosity, not expecting the price to have gotten like it is. To be honest, even though I really want this car because of how it looks (huge fan of the white body, boxy design of the old corollas), I think it’ll be a dumb decision. Have no idea what is not being fully disclosed by the selller. Like you said, parts are expensive, miles are high. I wish things were different haha. I’d love an old, reliable, good looking car. Couldn’t care less if auto or manual or 100 horsepower or 300. The aesthetics makes the whole thing.

I spent a lot of time to find one and got one during peak Covid from across the US sight unseen. 1986 SR5 -> GT-S conversion w/ non running 20 valve silvertop 4A-GE. I'd wanted one for 16 years!! I will be posting chill videos of bringing it back to life in about a year, trying to show as much detail as possible since the forums and pictures are all dead and its hard to find info now days

Id love to get one someday but they are literally impossible to find in my area

I'm also in Texas and you'd have to be dedicated to spend that kind of money for a corolla. You could easily buy a C5 corvette or an S2K for those prices. Glad I got my Miata w hardtop in 2020 before the prices doubled.

The best deals are on forums or local Facebook pages

I live in a place that is stuck in time.
We took care of those cars a lot so you see the driving around like another car in 2022.
Our prices are like the 2000.

Sr5 coupe 1000 to 1500
Sr5 hatchbacks 2000 to 5000
Gts coupe around 4000 to 6000
Gts hatchbacks 6000 to 8000

You now what, I got lucky, I didn't get a AE86 but at least I got a Japanese American muscle car. The "79" Toyota Celica GT manual. It is a nice car that isn't a AE86 but at least it is a fun rwd coupe. That I got for cheap.

I found one, I think it might be GTS model not a hatch, it's sitting at a shop about a mile from my house, it's automatic, got everything needed for a manual swap, but it's in rough condition, no visible rust to the exterior, but the exhaust is being supported by nothing more than the ground, so I'd take it that it's fairly rusted out. Dents to the front bumper and hood, the car is growing moss on it, I posted a community tab post about it on my yt channel, how much would you say it's worth?
