I take huge issue with this video. First of all, I’m not Jewish, Zionist, Israeli, or anything of the sort. I AM NOT making a pro Israel argument. My issue is that this video makes irresponsible, broad brush historical claims that absolutely merit harsh criticism, and undermine the credibility of everybody involved in the production.

1. He says that the Levant is an area with 3000+ years of Arab civilization, somehow completely disregarding the fact that there are indigenous languages and cultures (some still around) which predate the Arab presence in the region by millennia. If you’re going to tell me with a straight face that you think Arabic was spoken in Syria since 3000 BC and disregard the Aramaic, Phoenician, Akkadian, and Assyrian cultures, you need to do more reading and learning before lecturing the world with a video like this.

2. The person in the video refers contemptuously at the idea that the European powers wanted to protect minorities in the Levant, indirectly asserting that this cause is not worthwhile or real, despite the fact that the time period in question saw the total destruction of middle eastern Christianity during the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek genocides, accompanied by the erasure of these cultures, man-made famines in Mount Lebanon, and the reduction of these cultures to tiny minorities in a land where they far predate Arabs or Turks. It’s shameful to see this video doing that, and essentially rejecting the plight of Levantine and Anatolian Christians as being either not real or not worthy of dignifying.

The plight of the Palestinian people is dire and urgent, but this video contains glaring issues that are hard to overlook, and throw off the entire focus of the intended narrative.

One correction: God promised Abraham that all his descendants could dwell in the land provided they followed His laws and treated all people in the land as their brothers. 1) European Jews are not the descendants of Abraham, they converted to Judiasm. 2) Does anyone really believe these Israelis follow God's commandment to treat the indigenous Arabs as their brothers?
