The Acolyte bombed so bad it's taking The High Republic initiative with it. Disney has been pushing the Hight Republic as their flagship Star Wars timeline for years in novels, comics and TV shows. Regarding the connective thread between the Acolyte and the rest of the High Republic stories, it was a small but significant one.

The Acolyte takes place about a hundred years after the current stories running in the novels/comics, and the only returning character (besides Yoda who is too embarrassed to show his face in the show) is Vernestra Roh who they character assassinated in the show and made her completely immoral (cares more about politics than doing what's right)

So it's not like the show COMPLETELY derailed the current storylines running in the comics/novels, but the problem is that they aren't that engaging in the first place.

It’s funny they have a petition to bring the acolyte back less then 50’000 people have signed it which is nothing considering all the Star Wars fans in the world it was a bad show with no viewers.The high republic won’t be missed

I was under the Impression that the Printing House that was Really Pushing 'High Republic' closed sometime before Acolyte released but I never really cared either way.

My expectations going in before the First Trailer were:
*Whether it is fair or not the High Bar it has to go up against is the LEGENDARY KOTOR 1 and 2 as the Flagship property of Old Star Wars and the Prequel Star Wars of the EU*

When the First Trailer Dropped I was convinced that what they were doing was simple a 'Commit Suicide Any% Run' against the Old Republic because I knew that they would not win if they kept acting like every other Social Justice Production and Property.

But its failure and how mighty and loudly it failed exceeded even MY Expectations of it. And I didn't even have to watch a minute of it to know that Disney Canon is dangerously close to PERMANENTLY FUBAR and I didn't even have to lift a finger *because they did it to themselves*

Star wars was a movie franchise, the world used to stop when one was released, the damage disney did by oversaturating the brand and not listening to george lucas is irreversible. It doesnt matter if anyone watches these disney plus shows. The franchise, which is a movie franchise, is dead.

Excellent video and analysis. 👍 In principle, all your observations can apply to virtually ALL of the fandoms! Case in point: I'm more of a TREKKER, and just by substituting the names Star TREK producers/directors in place of Star Wars ones, it would explain why even Star Trek has lost most of its luster/legacy. And the main thing I loved about your analyis? You righftully put all of the fault on those OFF camera, not on the actors and actresses like many others do. The High Republic was interesting in theory...but ultimately, it was kinda boring. The Galactic Republic at that time was nearly at total peace, aside from some space pirates. But the Jedi of that era seemed inexperienced, naive and bougie. Disney just wanted to cash in on an era that was never used in canon or Legends, but it just didn't work🤷🏾‍♂️

2 for 1 special, great! As for Filoni, the best thing I can say about him is that he's consistent, I dropped his Clone Wars after two seasons and I his Rebels also after two seasons. Rebels, in particular, tried to reinvent the Star Wars wheel, but just didn't get it and ran over lore and continuity with a bulldozer. If Disney wants to get back on fans' good graces, take a note from the DCAU and make *faithful* animated adaptations of EU novels and comics like The Thrawn Trilogy, Shadows of the Empire, Dark Empire, the Dark Forces Trilogy, X-Wing Rogue Squadron, KotOR. You want content for D+? There it is, although I would suggest a limited theater run first. Pair that with toy releases and re-releases of those comics and you're set for a solid decade at least.

The first issue of the high republic had a jedi slowing them selves down with their lightsaber like Petar pan does with a sail and a knife. That was when I realized the people behind high republic weren't even star wars fans and I gave up.
