Good to see gpu manufacturers are still living in last year's pricing . I know that gpus are developed years before they come to fruition, but did AMD and Nvidia REALLY think that without the scarcity issues from the past 2 years people would just run out and buy the latest offerings at still inflated prices ? This is 7800 XT that should cost $700, at the most. Both companies are being extremely greedy this generation. But this is not surprising after the whole "shortage" situation where people were willing to pay anything just to get a new GPU.

Y'all remember the GTX 700 days when Nvidia released the first Titan card. Everyone lost their mind when Nvidia was charging $1000. Ahh, those were the days.

if the 7900 xt was rebranded as rx 7800 xt for $700 everyone would be cheering. AMD and Nvidia both need to get their pricing back in line with reality.

I'll never forget my old 970 being 10% slower than the 980, while costing only 350 euros. That stuff was high end for a 4th of what an 80 card is today.

Got my RX 5700xt on release for £379, best single purchase I made for my pc. RSR and FSR 2 is really keeping it going.

This GPU make little sense on its own, but if you imagine 7900XT is made to upsell 7900XTX and RTX 4080, it now make perfect sense.

I've never seen Steve being so upset.
In the last 6 years we have seen miner price hikes, pandemic price hikes, supply chain price hikes, energy crisis price hikes, Nvidia's arbitrary price hikes... basically the 500-600$ flagship GPU from 7 years ago is gone. Today a flagship costs 1000 or rather 1500 $, so it's a 200% increase. God I miss 2016. But all of these things didn't broke Steve, the 7900 XT was the last straw which broke the camel's back.

Just bizarre pricing. I can only assume that they really don’t want to sell this part, and it only exists to make the XTX look good. AMD should have took a punt here and pitched it at $650-700 and hoped to make it back in units shifted. At that price it would be just about the best cost per frame on the market, grabbed a decent chunk of market share and given nVidia very stiff competition.

Well, I was hoping that maybe the 6000 series might get discounted after this generation, but it looks like they're gonna hold their value pretty damn well.
