Harvey... Just wanted to say your absolutely awesome! Your version and backup was spot on and I ended up doing a few tweaks on my install; and within 30 minutes; had a full running copy of sonoma hackintosh up and running.... it is so much better than whats on my mac mini.... thru my AMD Threadripper 2990 32 Core, with 64 Gig RAM on the ProxMox and away we went!... I have an existing MacOS OpenCore Hackintosh (old style) and a Windows install each sitting on their own NVME drives. I just switch by rebooting and selecting.
I am interested in moving to the Proxmox method, because of the business of dealing with Mac OS updates is painful.  Seems to be easier if the KVM is always running?

Perhaps your audience might like to know how to migrate existing installations? As I understand it, ProxMox would not just boot into existing MacOS install - but Migration Assistant might pull in the old install? No idea about how do to the same on Windows.

In case anyone has the same issue I After copying over the .zst file, I would click restore and nothing would happen. This is because I changed the name of the .zst file since it was super long and I wasn't using a graphical FTP program and didn't want to type the whole thing out. ProxMox needs to see the vzdump-qemu at the beginning of the file name, so just leave it as is :-)

Awesome walkthrough. You showed me a few things I need to implement on my server. I recently found your site / channel as I'm experimenting with proxmox and pcie passthrough.
(specs: 3700x, asus b550 prime plus, 64GB @3200mhz, zfs pools for my disks)

What's been your experience with older AMD cards (I have an old 290x lying around)?

Have you played around with parsec on your hackintosh setups? Does it (your hackintosh setup) interact well with low latency remote desktop setups like moonlight / parsec?

Do you have an explanation for why you had to downgrade the proxmox kernel to 5.xx? Could this have been handled by loading the needed kernel modules?

Newbie here. Should you install proxmox on the machine you're planning to use macOS on or does it need to be installed on a separate machine so that you can run macOS remotely on another one? In other words... Do you need two machines running to run macOS this way?
