For the second story isn't weird how he didn't check on the "child" not even once, you wouldv'e thought he would atleast pushed his head in the room and make sure everything is okay but he didn't, he just took the word of her 'father' that he would only need to check on her in the morning.

Here's a tip, and an important one. Have a code word only you and your child know. Have a different code word for each parent.
So, if your mom is supposed to pick you up, but she cant, maybe she got sick, the car wouldn't start...and she has to ask a grandparent or neighbor to pick you up,
they HAVE to tell you the code word, or you do NOT go with them.
Your mom would know to tell anyone picking you up, instead of her, that you must be told the code word to confirm that your mom actually sent the person instead of her.
After that, you have to change the code word of course.
Also why on Earth would you not report someone trying to pick you up like that???
They KNEW your name, and they will likely try that same thing on another kid.
And what if they succeed because YOU didn't report the incident??
It amazes me how selfish some people are. They clearly don't care what happens to anyone else!

Late at night and early morning it hits different

I had to save my neighbor's 2 children from their babysitter when I was in my 20s. It was night/dark outside and around November in the South. I live in a middle class subdivision, one with hoa and swimming, golf, tennis, gym, etc. Each house on a half acre lot. I was grilling outside and heard a yell for help. Initially, I didnt think too much of it. Then I kept hearing it from 2 different voices, it is clear to me which direction the calls for help were coming from. I called the neighbor, and they said that they have a baby sitter over. They also said feel free to stop by and check up on them. After the call, I went over to knock. Kept hearing yells for help. So I called the cops then the neighbors, to remotely unlock their front door. Turns out the baby sitter was a child molester. Good thing I had my gun on me, I pulled out my gun and told him to stop before I shoot. He made a run for it and I let him go. Cops came, kids and I gave our stories. Cops found out where the kid lives and arrested him. He was only 16. The neighbor's children were only 5 and 8. The good thing is that they had 2 windows opened because I would not have heard their calls for help otherwise.
