Natalie Gentile, MD is a family medicine and lifestyle medicine board certified physician with a passion for food and fitness. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr. G believes in breaking down barriers between community members and their access to the resources they need to strive to live a healthy lifestyle that’s the right fit for them. That inspired her to open Rebel Wellness in January 2023 – a lifestyle medicine-oriented wellness space that offers plant-based teaching kitchen classes, personal training sessions, group fitness classes and educational workshops, along with an on-demand library of resources. She enjoys the work-life balance that being a DPC doc allows, and loves spending time with her husband and their two young children.
Dr. G has a history of disordered eating habits, and when she adopted a plant centered lifestyle during medical school, she found this to be an imperative addition to the management plan to get to a better relationship with food. Nowadays, she puts lifestyle medicine front and center in how she counsels patients as this helped her so significantly in her own health journey. Through the time and continuity she has with patients, she has recognized disordered relationships with food and body image disorders in patients more frequently than she would have imagined. By addressing the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine in her treatment plan for patients, this helps improve their long-term health in ways that a rushed visit and a prescription medication just doesn’t fully achieve. During this interview, she will discuss her personal journey with disordered eating as well as how a plant based lifestyle can help ease mental health conditions and health anxiety.
