Okay I'd like to see them spy on my desktop when I pull out my Ethernet cable. Without them standing behind me...

dont have a wireless card you cant connect i dont care how special it is, old physical NIC is still the most secure. If its not hooked up it cant get a connection!

According to the UN North Korea has a universal healthcare system that could serve as a model for other developing countries. You'd' think if they can do it the richest country in the world that exploits half the globe could do it.

Meh. Whatever. I rather doubt the NSA is in the least bit interested in whatever YOU or I may be doing on the Internet at any given time.

This story is completely bogus. While a computer is connected to the internet, the NSA could be able to gain access. Now, what if you are not connected, but the wireless card is still on? Well, in that case, they would have to be within a certain radius in order to gain access, and as distance increases, and the number of obstacles increase, the fidelity of that connection will suffer. So in short, the technology does NOT exist, and is only a scare tactic. Unless you are communicating with satellites, no wi-fi signal is strong enough to send data to another wireless exchange station a mile away, since the frequency band being used is in the microwave range.

priorities & where the money is spent, it's disgusting & backwards. humanity has a long way to go before it can even begin to evolve on a large scale & that is just sad.

The computers are simply "bugged" with a wireless device that transmit signal mile away from the target. It can be hidden flash cards, USB cable, into a computer's circuit board etc. To read the full article, google "nytimes nsa spy on open computers".

A certain type of consciousness has taken over. you can't beat violence with violence but you can certainly stop going along and start doing your own thing. start small, in your own environment.

Look, just consider all technology a potential liability as it pertains to your activities. The problem is that people are too addicted to tech. Time to take things back to the fundamentals.

My buddy told me about this actually a year before 9/11 and described the way they were doing the exact way you just explained it.  I thought he was crazy, guess not.

That's why the priority for the population must be the improvement of the systems needed by the population (education, health care, economy/work/currency, cleaning pollution, fixing infraestructure, and a few useful and good quality techs). Maybe better to restrict computers and wireless techs to the minimum use for the above systems, until people recover their sense of responsability and civility. I don't think the high tech is really solving or even addresing the real problems for most people.

people still say "Don't worry the NSA won't spy on you because it's not like you're a terrorist." It pisses me off major this is messed up and no one aside from me seems to give a fuck. ~FoxTailed

Combine Faraday cage protected PC with TAILS or Whonix as the OS, use microSD cards as HDD (easy destruction),   and any open WiFi connection (no service you are subscribed to) and you have quite a secure little system.

So they can WIFI my shit on my doller, but I can't wifi without mad more dollers? 'Murica, bitches.

I suppose it is possible within the laws of physics, but not sure it's as easy as purported.

This seems pretty far-fetched. I can understand that as long as a computer has a wireless modem (or is connected to one), it's potentially accessible, but only so long as the modem initiates the connection. How could a signal from an external source take control of the modem and activate it? Are we supposed to believe that our wireless modems are silently waiting for a secret code on a secret channel that will cause them to connect to the source and start transferring data from the computer?

I mean, it's possible - with the complicity of modem manufacturers - but I'd want to see some solid evidence before believing this.

Fine, then all we have to do is when we build PC cases is integrate Faraday cages into their structure.
