The Forced Evolutionary Virus | Fallout Lore

preview_player
Показать описание
The Forced Evolutionary Virus, also known as FEV, is a virus artificially created by West Tek's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Division. The virus’s ability to change an individual’s observable traits and genes has made it one of the most important mutagens known to man. Harnessed both before and after the Great War, for reasons both noble and sinister. But what is FEV, to quote Father Elijah it a long story, FEV…a virus with an even longer story, so let’s take a look at how the virus came to be, what it was used for, and who by and hopefully by the end of the video we’ll have a much better understanding.

I bet the FEV didn't really make the chimps any more aggressive, it was just a normal reaction to being trapped in a cell with a massive headache and some newly upgraded stranglin' arms.

They tried making Captain Americas but made hulks instead

It would be really cool to have an intelligent Deathclaw for a companion. It sucks Frank and the Enclave wiped them out.

There's nothing better than binging Fallout Lore while playing Fallout.

"Well the FEV won't let me be or let me be me so let me see. They tried to shut me down on F:NV, but Fallout feels so empty without me."

The "bad" ending in F1 where you willingly submit to the Master was really freaking terrifying

"Instead of reducing their size, they gained the ability to spit *fire*"

that line killed me

Side note : FEV infection makes the super mutants infertile, it's a big point brought up in Fallout 1, one that causes the master to suicide the project, and himself with a EXPLOSION.

Fun fact if you try to use the resurrect command on the failed fev experiment in vault 87 it will speak like a mutant in battle and crash your game

The one thing that I couldn’t understand is: Why did the Institute kill the remainder of those in Vault 111? Their pods were turned off if the computer terminals can be believed.
The Institute after 200 years may have a dangerously narrow gene pool.
Here you have a gene pool closer to your own with those educated at a level way above those in the Commonwealth without possible genetic mutations. Also, they could have been dispersed into the Institute’s population by family units to ease assimilation. Those that had certain genetic disease could have been left behind until it could be addressed by their medical practices. That is, unless they could be of benefit to the Institute due to certain knowledges or abilities.

It's a bit odd that I started playing fallout when I was 11, played Fallout 3 and NV religiously, watched as much content as I could about all the subjects you've covered by other people before you, yet even now that I'm in my early 20s I still find these lore videos cool.

I guess... _some things never change._

It would've been amusing if the deathclaw outside Virgil's cave'd had a cute name like bubbles or something.
Maybe he wouldn't mention this if you killed it but there was some unique dialogue if you ran past it.

Love your videos brother, Fallout has extremely expansive lore and appreciate you taking the time to explain it.

The super mutants in Fallout 1/2 were terrifying in my opinion since most of them were pretty intelligent, And that combined with their strength made them pretty formidable.
