I've always believed fighters should be very aware of their physical strengths and weaknesses and create their own personal fight style off that information. Today I break down how you might fight if you are tall, short, strong, weak, etc.

I've been saying this for AGES. Your body type and your aim is what you should go for in martial arts. This is great content right here.

That was extremely helpful, for years I struggled being the bigger and taller fighter everywhere and nobody explained to me how to use it. They just went "use your size, create distance, if they come near you punish them". But it wasn't until last year that I had the luck that only two of us went to sparring that day, so the coach put us into the ring and taught us how to fight with our size, what to look for, what to avoid, and improvised some exercises for us to do during that sparring session. For instance I had a full round of just being cornered and had to defend shots trying to create distance; another round in which I was the one on the offense and my partner had to cut the distance between us so my shots would be way lighter; another one in which I could only teep and the other person could only punch. A lot of stuff like that.

I’ve only met one coach who is intelligent and wise enough to teach fighters based on their own attributes. Everyone teaches you to fight like themself

I'm on the shorter end so thank you for this. I would love another more elaborate breakdown video on this in the future as well. In addition thanks for telling me about Mike Zambidis. He's the same height as I am. Also the same age as me but I think he's retired by now while I'm trying to just be active in my local area.

This topic needs to be discussed MORE.... I started thai boxing with good trainers, but realized I needed to study different fighters, and travel to Thailand to develop my natural style. I've seen western fighters stagnate believing there's only 'one way ' when there are MANY ways to get the job done

Amazing idea man, this is a question I've always wanted an answer to

this is incredible
i dont do striking, i do jiu jitsu, but i've always told my students and i've always believed that knowing and understanding your own body type is just as important as understanding the techniques. Great video

This was incredibly helpful. I'm really short for my weight class: 6'0, 260 lbs. but I come from a powerlifting background. All this time I thought I should just be in and out and flicking away with my jab and I've been eaten alive in every spar. I never stopped to ask why. I just took the advice of people who had more experience than me and nothing worked. This, on the other hand, just made so much sense.

It’s funny he brings up what side of your body is stronger. I am right handed but I actually prefer throwing left hooks. Throwing my straights feel good but my left hook feels more natural.

A 6'4" slender, ectomorph, 195 lbs guy here.
I definitely agree on this, being tall with fairly long legs I naturally incline to a lot of kicking and teeping when out-fighting + I like to use knees when in-fighting.

Martial arts can be pretty tricky, I thoug this would be the brawler/slugger/boxer thing again but this man is pointing out quite specific details not generic fighitng style fodder.... Noice!
