Sometimes when I'm doing something mundane like making a cup of tea, I try to think about all the resources that contribute to that cup of tea and have some gratitude for all those things that went into it and made that one cup of tea possible. Sometimes when I'm doing something with music, whether I'm recording, mixing, or just sitting around practicing or playing casually, I try to do that same thing. There's something I think all of the greats have in common: they don't do it because they are good, they are good because they do it. Something about their personality demands that they create regardless of quality. After a while, the sheer fact that they keep creating makes them great, practice makes perfect and they just don't stop.

If there is something you love to do in this life, do it. You'll keep getting better and better and eventually be great too.

You only fail when you quit.

Wow...thank you for this. I didn’t realize how much I needed it. I’ve been seeking approval from others and it makes it all so much harder. I’ve lived in a tent for two years so I can learn all I can with my off grid rig, as my health has been poor, it’s hard to balance music production with a job.
