that's tie wire, not fencing wire. You'll need to use rebar of that diameter and a foot long to do that with fencing wire- it's high tensile.

I saw something like this with two four inch logs, 6' each. The guy hooked one end of his rope to a tree and the other end to his jeep, and wenched his ride out of a serious mud loblolly.
