I watched a few other videos on how to do this, but only this one was clear enough for me to understand it. Thanks! 😊

Thank you for such a clear video. My husband tried telling me we have to take the wire down and restring or we have to get that $100 fence fixer. Now I'll be taking my hammer and fixing my fences on my own.

That’s in Australia in North America you have to turn the other way

When you release the tension on the hammer side of the wire, use the hammer to make 2-3 twists around before unwinding it the rest of the way

Excellent! I knew there had to be a way to tighten fence without a come-along! I'm heading up to the family cabin in Colorado's Tarryall mountains to mend some fence tomorrow - thanks mate!

Nice!! I watched my dad do something similar when I was a youngster, but by the time I asked him to show me, he had forgotten. Thanks. Ol' Mean Grampa

You take yur hemmah!

"You'll take a fence post right over"

This is not a joke and that's why I love this technique so much you're using leverage and you are truly putting an extreme amount of tension on these lines with just a simple act of twisting cable on your hammer

Thanks for uploading this, David. You're a very practical person. This is so simple it verges on genius. Not many would think of doing it like this. Sometimes simple is better. There was an instance where I had to pull one piece of wood against another and it was so bent that I would need a great deal of force to do it. The gap was only about 1/2 " but tight space requirements made it impossible to use any kind of clamp or come along or anything like that. And there was no purchase strong enough that I could not even use a ratchet tie down or anything similar. Took a stout piece of rope. Looped it around the post. Knotted it at one end. Left enough slack so that a strong stick would go through it and then just twisted the stick until the two pieces of wood came together by the rope tightening and then was able to drive screws into them. The force generated by this simple machine was enormous and the pieces of wood were stubborn enough so that the post was left with indentations.

I was taught this method. But I was told to use the fence pliers. Using the hammer looks a lot better and easier. Was a pretty hard using the pliers. I kept telling myself that there has to be an easier way. And u just seen it. I was planning on making some kind of jig for this. But I like this hammer idea. Thanks allot Magiver
