Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down with author and president of the Foundation for Progress in Chile, Axel Kaiser. They discuss the state of Venezuela under Nicolás Maduro, the opposition leader María Corina Machado, 21st-century socialism, the rise of the cartels, and how the ethos of care undergirds economic instability.

Axel Kaiser Barents von Hohenhagen is a Chilean-German lawyer, Master in Investments, Commerce, and Arbitration, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Heidelberg (Germany). He is the co-founder and president of the Foundation for Progress in Chile, one of the most influential free-market think tanks in Latin America. He is an international lecturer and a best-selling author of several works that include his Tolkienian fantasy novel “The Book of Asgalard” (available only in Spanish). His book "The Street Economist" became the most sold economics book in the Spanish-speaking world in the last 20 years, playing an important role in Argentina’s current free-market movement.

Thank you, Dr. Peterson. Axel is one of the most influential thinkers of our region. We who love freedom share a great deal of respect for him. You couldn't have interviewed a better person to understand what's going on in Latin America. As a Venezuelan, I agree with Axel's description. Again, thank you for your interest, and for sharing our story with your very well informed audience.

Please make it happen!! An interview with Maria Corina Machado would be epic! She needs more exposure so more people is aware what is going in Venezuela.

This interview has brought me to tears. I am immensely grateful to Dr. Peterson and Mr. Kaiser for their insightful analysis of Venezuelans. Like many others, I am living in exile, and as a psychoanalyst, I have witnessed the suffering of my people firsthand. My grandparents worked tirelessly to build our country, believing in a free America. Instead, our families lost everything, and we were forced to leave it all behind.

Thank you so much to these wonderful people who give us a voice. My heart is filled with a glimmer of hope for our future. As long as we have such amazing individuals standing for truth against evil, there is hope.

As a Venezuelan living in Chile since 2016, I couldnt feel more grateful and honored that Dr. Kaiser and Dr. Peterson had decided to dedicate time to expose the perils of the narco-comunism regime that has taken place in my country. The importance and the extent of the Venezuelan situation to all the region is something that must not be overseen. In years to come we'll see people like Axel Kaiser as the heroes who kept the flame of freedom and the voice of millions alive. Thank you Dr. Peterson for your incredible platform.

I'm cuban. Born and raised in that hell. I would love one day to interview by Mr. Peterson and be able to tell the atrocious things I've seen while growing in Cuba.

As a Cuban living in the USA Axel is completely right, I can't believe America goes all the way to other continents to fight for "its interests" but doesn't do anything in our own continent!! And I'm not talking about sending troops or anything, but to be informed about what's happening

As a fan of Peterson and Kaiser, I have to say that this is one of the interviews that I always wanted to happen, I´ve always thought that North and South America have always been covered as separate issues, but we are fighting the same problems, I´ve been following Kaiser for years now and he talks about the problems in South America taking in consideration the historical, economic, and the mindset of the region, in the other hand I started to follow Peterson after I began to learn English and started to dig in the North American content and stumbled upon one of his talks and I liked the message that he was teaching, and the way he addressed the problems from the psychological, the spiritual and the moral point of view.

As a Venezuelan I thank both of you for taking the time to put the Venezuelan crisis in the spotlight, I have to say that Kaiser has an excellent grasp of what is happening here and did a great job explaining the situation, I would like to add a little bit of what I think.

Venezuela is doomed if there is no military intervention, I voted for Machado knowing Maduro was going to try to stay in power, I was one of those people that firmly believed that "En dictadura no se vota" or "in a dictatorship you don't vote", the reason of that is that I saw all the corruption, the fake opposition, and the corrupt CNE. However when I saw Maria Corina Machado, a woman who the fake opposition has always left out and someone who has been very coherent in what she says taking the lead of the opposition I thought to myself "Maybe she is the last bullet" and I started to think that she was worthy of my vote thinking (hoping) that she may have a plan, and I with my vote I could earn the moral to critic what she was doing.

I know MCM is a strong leader and this could be speculation from my part but if she had a real plan of taking down Maduro she had to be in touch with some country with the capacity of doing so, taking in consideration some of the news of how she has been in touch with some congressman of United States and the recent interest of Erik Prince in showing some of the high value targets in venezuelan forces lead me to think that there could be some kind of plan that could execute right after the US elections (Only if trump wins).

I had to say that i took a lot of time (more that i wanted to) writing this, there is a lot to say but there is no point in ranting in a youtube comment, in any case I really enjoyed the interview I hope that you keep doing these interviews that show that America is not only US and that we can work together to solve our problems united as one continent,

I deeply thank both of you for the discussion on Venezuela. Specially to Axel who selflessly dedicated the whole interview to talk about Venezuela. It is a complex situation and it is even more complicated to explain to others but he managed to do it perfectly. And doctor Peterson addresses very intelligent questions and comments as usual. Gracias Viva la libertad carajo!

Thank you, Jordan an Axel for addressing such a complex issue. Venezuela is a cuban colony, a communist sociopolitical experiment and a narco dictatorship, and we're more than thirty million people suffering from it.

We won the presidential election and we're going to regain our contry, no matter what.

¡Viva Venezuela libre, nojoda! 🇻🇪✊🏻

As usual, on the right side of history.
As a Venezuelan, I thank you for your support, Mr. Peterson. Not the first time I´ve heard you mention us.
+20 years of communist/socialist hell for us. We will get our country back, and all the help we can get is appreciated.

Excellent discussion! I’m an American that has been pretty ignorant of the Venezuelan plight. For some time now I’ve been making it a point to educate myself on issues that other countries deal with. So much of what Axel says absolutely gave me a chill! The US is heading in the direction of Venezuela if we don’t take heed!

Axel is number 1 in defending freedom in our region. He's on the podium. I reading his first books just ate the time when Bachelet II government came to power in Chile. Years before this happened, he was already warning of the danger in the former president's collectivist speech - and the mistakes made by the center and the right wing in previous years, and why not decades? 10 years earlier, or even 15 years ago, his projections for what happened to Chile came to fruition in an important way.

And I have no doubts about the success of the liberal/libertarian movement, as well as the conservative movement gaining ground in the region in the coming years. The big change will be with Javier Milei's successes in Argentina, especially when he has a majority in Congress (which should happen next year in the midterm elections).

Viva la Libertad Carajo! !Capitalismo, ahorro y trabajo! All my solidarity and best wishes to the Venezuelan people.
