Thanks to the stimulus checks, everybody since 2020-21 jacked up their fees and prices including auto, home and health insurance companies, healthcare providers, dentists, plumbers, new car dealers, grocery stores, retailers, fast food restaurants, coffee shops and the list goes on and on. This is why everybody is so tapped out now. We are living in a stimulus check economy without the stimulus checks.

Tariffs will drive prices higher and bring home some manufacturing. Oh well. Maybe you can get a job at the new factory and make just enough to survive. I already only buy expensive and quality goods. I am not exactly rich, but I have learned my lesson about buying cheap stuff. I check labels and almost always buy American products and don’t sweat the higher prices and know it’s keeping my dumb slob neighbours working so they don’t try to rob me.

Free trade and access to commodities, goods, and consumers is the cornerstone of the post WW2/Breton Woods geopolitical and geoeconomics world. However that system destroyed American manufacturing, intellectual property, and ultimately the entire American society. During that time we also saw the implementation of income taxes to pay for it all. These problems didn’t exist when tariffs paid for the US Government

As an American living in France, I see what's going on from a different point of view. The French economy cannot possibly survive the debt crisis. My opinion on tariffs is that they are totally destructive for economies and the people they serve. The only time tariffs can be justified is when governments unfairly subsidize industries. Never pay any attention to what Trump says only what Trump actually does.

Well it’s already been said that the US is over spending. I think that other countries are starting to see that they can sink profits at the expense of the US. I says let it go, we need it for a correction. The US government is just trying to make their debt payments cheaper.
