He’s right. Manufacturing always leads the recession, and my company is cutting headcount bigtime. I’m in automotive and believe it or not we didn’t have any layoffs in the 2009 recession at all. Yet today we are moving to cut a ton of our labor costs. Of course layoffs have been all over the news for a while now. The wealthy won’t realize what’s happening until it hits their stock portfolios.

Great stuff. People aren't considering the employment situation nearly enough. When tariffs and deportations start, inflation will kill demand, destroying companies and jobs. The economy is way too fragile to handle that.
