Pennsylvania’s Coolest Town - New Hope

Показать описание
New Hope, Pennsylvania is a small town located in Bucks County Pennsylvania. The town has a historic and colonial past, and is filled with quirky shops and colorful restaurants on the banks of the Delaware River. #newhope #smalltowns #pennsylvania #travelvlog

The town has hippie vibes as it is considered an artist colony. More than this, however, the town is biker and motorcycle friendly, dog friendly, family friendly, and lgbtq friendly.

The town was founded in the 1800s as a borough of Pennsylvania, although it's fascinating history goes back way later than this. Take a walk through New Hope in this immersive and informative walking tour and learn how the town developed over time to become a prime tourist destination. Interestingly, it is believed that George Washington and the colonial troops stayed in New Hope before their famous crossing of the Delaware River.

You will be in awe at the meticulously preserved colonial architecture and will feel like you are in a different time. Much of the town mirrors the look of a quaint English village.

New Hope is an excellent day trip from New York City or Philadelphia and is one of the most interesting small towns of America. It has that really main street USA vibe, but has one of the most historic feels. It is one of the best towns in Pennsylvania and one of the best things to do in Bucks County, PA.

In this tour you will see:

The Bucks County Playhouse
Main Street New Hope
New Hope-Lambertville Bridge

This video was filmed on August 20, 2022 beginning at the northern end of Main Street, continuing towards the Delaware River, then continuing along Main Street to it's southern terminus in New Hope, PA.

Lambertsville is just as nice as New Hope. Also don't forget the D&L trail right off the main street in New Hope.

Really nice tour. The bridge is called the New-Hope Lambertville Bridge known by locals as “the free bridge.” Also, the New Hope Group from the late 19th Century was made up of the Pennsylvania Impressionists, many of their works are privately owned, but many are also in the Michener Museum in nearby Doylestown. There exists The Phillips Mill Community Association a mile north on Main, where artists shows still happen and artists in the area still gather. And the Parry Mansion houses the New Hope Historical Society.

I grew up in and around New Hope and Lambertville in the mid 1960s. It was a fabulous place to be, and it still is. I will tell you: Lambertville was a gritty working class town that has blossomed into a lovely little town. I will always miss Phil and Dan's Italian Kitchen!

you skipped the canal that goes right through town parallel to main street and has some of the nicest scenery and houses. FYI, the canal path can be walked for many miles north and south of New Hope

You should give Lambertville more credit, it’s a really cool town in its own right!

We used to skip school and hitchhike to New Hope in the early 70s to prowl the shops, smoke pot, and hang out with the hippies! It looks exactly the same! Good job New Hope!

I lived in New Hope in the early 1980s I grew up around 15 Mi away. The town was revived in the 1960s and 70s by artist and gay people. I used to have my paintings in the golden door Art Gallery which I don't think exist anymore. I was also a chef in a couple of the fine dining restaurants back in the 1980s. Back then the famous New York City news anchor Jessica Savage drowned it in the canal right next to the restaurant call odette's. She and her date after eating in the restaurant backed up and went over the embankment into the canal and could not get out of their car because they sunk into like 4 ft of mud. It was a huge thing back then. Also Abbie Hoffman who was a famous person back then went missing in New Hope was later found deceased. The largest gay wedding at the time occurred at the Raven bar Resort and there were like 5, 000 people there, back then there were many gay bars in New Hope but when HIV came along in the late seventies early eighties many hundreds of them died. Before Peddler's Village existed that whole spot was flea markets and antique shops and junk shops we went all the time in the late seventies then they knocked everything down and built Peddlers Village which we felt was very disappointing. Back then celebrities like Paul Lynde and Kitty Carlisle and Sally Jesse Raphael use to frequent New Hope. Im old now and will never be to New Hope ever again but spent many years their which feels like a lifetime ago. ❤

Great video! Gonna go there in a few days and was wondering where’s a good spot to park. Is the parking at Delaware canal state park free and easily accessible to the shops?

I remember me and my ex-wife going to new Hope almost every other weekend from Trenton, New Jersey we used to make that trip almost religiously. I love the little art shops, and Wicca places we used to just stand on the bridge. It brings back great memories. I’m in Virginia now I wish there was someplace similar here.

New Hope Pennsylvania and the surrounding Countryside is very British looking and was controlled by the British when it was the 13 colonies. The whole area with Washington's Crossing was part of the revolution. This area is probably one of the most British looking areas in the United States and many parts of the Pennsylvania Countryside look almost exactly like British Countryside.
