Recharging the AC on a Toyota Sienna using AC Pro

I noticed that the AC wasnt cooling as well as it should have been when the weather got a little warmer. I did a little research and found the the AC Pro recharge kit had the best reviews. I purchased it for $40 and decided to give it a shot. Even though the kit couldn't get my van fully charged I was quite impressed with the results! This kit is definitely recommended.

After waiting over a year for my husband to deal w/ our air being out in the van (hey, the car is HIS deal, so HE says LOL), I decided to take the bull by the horns and found your video. CLEAR and great instruction. Plan to grab a can today and do it. THANK YOU!

I did it today on my 07 Toyota Sienna. It took about ten minutes. On a humid day at 81 degrees the AC output temperature went from 61 degrees to 40 degrees. This was easy, less challenging than the simple task of changing a car's oil. Go ahead and do it. The only thing more satisfying than saving a bunch of money is an air conditioner that is cold enough to make one's wife complain about freezing!

As a woman who knows next to nothing about cars, I appreciated the video as I may need this option over a visit to the auto garage since I've spent sooo much in repairs/upkeep so far this year. One thing that confused me a bit (doesn't take much at all) was how you'd know if you over-filled with that refrigerant. Other than that, I might take a chance and try this. Thanks again for providing the informative video.

Hello 1LJ
Thank you for sharing this video, just finished using the A/C Pro. Man what a difference. My van went from Smoking Hot to Snowballs.
Thanks.

You were pretty low to begin with. This is the first of many vids where it was shown that the pressure changes when the AC clutch engages. Does it go down or up when the clutch starts spinning? Another thing is, why do pretty much all Toyota AC systems seem to lose refrigerant every yea4 or so? My 2017 Highlander needed a “ service” where the tech installed a leak sealer/ dye to look for leaks as well as some refrigerant when the vehicle was 2.5 years old. Everything worked fine until a year and a bit later when again 5he system blows barely even cool ( not cold at all ). I haven’t checked to see if the AC clutch is activating yet and if not, that would be another issue. A simple YouTube search shows how many owners have non functioning AC. My 8 year old GM vehicle had good AC the whole time we owned it. We only use arc maybe 5-10 times a year so if we lived in Vegas I’m sure the AC would “ run low” every other week. I’m not impressed with the Toyota Dealership’s efforts on this one.

I'm a woman who knows quite a bit more about cars than many of my male friends. Basic car functions and repairs are no big deal to learn. A little reading and research and you can go into any repair shop with knowledge.

Just charge it within the Green Zone on the dial. Check every minute or so. It's really easy.

Thanks for sharing this. I tried it once and it didn't seem to work, then I watched your video and the rocking motion reminded me that R134a is heavy and you need to invert the bottle to make it go thru the hose.

I have a question. I have a cold line. It comes with the Ac pro, the outside temperature is 40 when I measure it, it is above 60 or 70 PSI, is it normal?

awesome. thanks. having problems with my Sienna but only on the Driver's side. Passenger seems to get cold but Drivers takes awhile...if at all..thinking there must be a split in a line somewhere. And/or a leak. will check this out first.

as of 8/19/13 still working great! I ended up not topping it off more. Give it a shot if it's not working. Just be careful not to overcharge!

Never charge a system without monitoring the high side as well, if theres a restriction it blow your face off.

Thanks! Unfortunately i'm not an expert in the AC recharging area so I can't help you there. I just wanted to make a video showing my success...or failure after using AC Pro. :) Sorry!

You probably know this by now, it's been a month, but I had the same thing happen and I read a FAQ on the manufacturer's website that it's normal for that to happen when the compressor kicks on and goes off. He mentions it in the video a little too.
