War Veterans often come back with a reverence to a particular weapon. My step-Dad was a helicopter co-pilot that got shot down in Vietnam. The gunner was able to dismount the M2 Browning .50 caliber from the crashed copter and kill encroaching enemy VC at close range. Crashed Huey's and their pilots were high value targets back then. My dad had his hip broken and was unable to move, but saw how the SGT waited on the enemy to approach out of the bush before literally ripping them to shreds with the .50 which enabled an air evacuation that saved the only survivors -- my dad and the gunner. He spent his whole life talking about that machine gun and that SGT with ice in his veins.
